1921-S<1C> MS65 Red PCGS. Golden-brown, mellow surfaces are well struck and remarkably devoid of ticks, specks, or other distractions. The S mintmark is a bit weak, as often seen, but overall this Gem more than lives up to the lofty grade assigned. The date, Lincoln's coat, hair, and beard, and all obverse legends are well struck up; even the V.D.B. on the shoulder is visible unaided. On the reverse, the wheat ears are bold, with just a touch of softness in the upper tier. Besides being elusive and popular in their own right, 1921-S Lincolns are perhaps even more popular because no dimes or quarters were minted in San Francisco that year, and owing to the popularity of its nickel and half dollar counterparts. Another unimprovable series key for the Lincoln adherent. Population: 16 in 65, 0 finer (11/05).
From The Joshua and Ally Walsh Collection of United States Cents.
