1921<S$1> MS66 PCGS. Beauty may indeed be in the eye of the beholder, but when enough experts in any given field agree that a piece of art, composer, or object of beauty is superior to others, then subjectivity is largely suppressed in favor of what is considered "the best." In such cases, second-best is usually far above average, but in any field of endeavor "the best" is what is always remembered. Monet is widely loved and appreciated as an Impressionist artist, while Alfred Sisley is largely unappreciated and underrated. The operas of Richard Wagner are constantly on stages throughout the world, while the works of Giacomo Meyerbeer are all but forgotten. And so it is in the world of coins. A 1932 double eagle is a very valuable and worthwhile coin, but it isn't a $7+ million coin, which is what the 1933 brought at auction two years ago. An MS65 1921 Peace dollar is a lovely and worthwhile coin, but an MS66, such as this one, is a memorable silver dollar.
The extra eye appeal that this coin possesses is largely derived from the fulsome mint frost that covers each side. Additionally, both the obverse and reverse have a light layer of reddish-golden patina that adds even more to the visual appeal of this special coin. As one would expect, marks are at an absolute minimum and the strike is above average for this normally weak issue. Population: 114 in 66, 5 finer (7/04).

Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Since eBay bids are not shown to us until we open the lot on the floor, we treat those bids just like floor bids. In most cases the floor responds before the eBay bid is presented to us, due to Internet lag time, so for consistency we have made it a policy that floor bids are always considered first over tie eBay live bids. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
