1921-D Mercury 10C
1921-D Mercury Dime. PCGS graded MS-63 PQ. Well struck and white with glinting luster throughout the surfaces. The bands are almost full. 1921 and 1921-D are scarcer issues in the 1920s. After the boomtime conditions of 1917-18, things continued along fine in 1919-20 in the aftermath of the Great War Armistice of 11/11/1918, but then a recession set in in 1921 which caused the banks to request fewer circulating coins from the Treasury. The Treasury in turn ordered the Mints to reduce production as evidenced by the much lower mintage this year in most denominations except silver dollars. Pop 22; 52 finer (PCGS # 4936) .
Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,100.

Provenance: The Dr. Charles Richman Collection.
