1921-D<50C> MS64 PCGS. Deeply toned on the obverse with dark gray near the periphery, lighter and colorful flecks of iridescent green, gold, red and blue intermixed toward the center which is brighter in color. Ample luster in the fields beneath the toning. On the reverse we note the toning is more even, but slightly darker gray near the rims, and more moderate russet and gold mixed in with the primary silvery-gray hues. Fairly well struck for the date, with most of Liberty's curls and cap details clearly defined, and her hand and thumb sharp. Similar on the reverse where the eagle's breast is sharp and minimal weakness is seen on the rounded thigh of the eagle's left leg. For the collector who appreciates toned coins, this Choice MS64 should prove a winner to add to an advanced collection. Identifiable by a pair of nicks on the lower portion of the fold of Liberty's dress which is draped over her arm, and by a tiny nick on the top left of the first T of TRUST. This is the key date to the series in high grade, and with a mintage of 208,000 pieces the 1921-D has proven itself to be quite elusive and uncirculated grades. Population: 98 in 64, 35 finer (9/05).
