1921 50C MS64 PCGS. The Philadelphia mint produced
1921 50C MS64 PCGS. The Philadelphia mint produced just 246,000 Half Dollars in 1921, a total that is the second lowest in the entire Walking Liberty series. Of the rarity of high grade examples, Fox states: "Although I have seen many nicely struck and a few fully struck specimens, I have difficulty locating pieces having a near full strike with few enough abrasions to grade MS64 or higher." Based on this assessment, one glance at the present near-Gem will be enough to convince anyone that it is an important coin. The strike is quite sharp with minimal softness on Liberty's leg and hand, and bold detail on her head. Both sides are silver-gray in appearance, although certain angles reveal rose and tan tinged highlights. For pedigree purposes, one abrasion is noted on Liberty's breast. A coin that is earmarked for inclusion in a high grade set of Walking Liberty Halves.
From The William & Harrison Hiatt Registry Collection, Part Two. Lot:7982
