1921 25C MS66 Full Head PCGS. Perception is at least as important as reality, and that is certainly the case with the 1921 Standing Liberty quarter. This issue has long been sought out by collectors because of its low mintage of 1.9 million pieces and perceived rarity. However, it is not quite as scarce as one might think. Apparently a number of high grade 1921 quarters were set aside at the time of issue, and this was a generally well-produced date. So high grade, well struck coins can occasionally be located. That being said, in terms of absolute numbers there are surprisingly few examples known. Only 29 pieces have been certified MS66 Full Head by PCGS and NGC combined, and only one coin is finer (10/07). However, in relative terms, there are nowhere near as many high grade, well struck 1921 quarters as there are collectors who would like to own one.
This is a splendid example that has thick, frosted mint luster. Each side is covered with an even layer of golden toning with a slight undertone of red. The striking details are strong, as one would expect and, of course, there are no obvious abrasions on either side.

Coin Engraver: Hermon A.
