Brass hilt, fishskin and wire grip, leather scabbard.32 inch blade stamped "Germany" with etched design incorporating the Irish Harp, Oglaigh na hÉireann badge and Celtic knotwork. Crossguard with Oglaigh na hÉireann badge. Some early Irish Free State Army swords were made in Germany but the majority were, after pressure was brought to bear by the British government, commissioned from Wilkinson in London, who diplomatically omitted their usual trademark from the blade.
