1920's Grover Cleveland Alexander Signed Magazine Photograph. Fellow Hall of Famer Rogers Hornsby once said of this troubled superstar, "I'd rather him pitch a crucial game for me drunk than anyone I've ever known sober. He was that good." Here we find a terrific image of Old Pete, dating from the era of his famous (and reportedly drunken) strike out of Tony Lazzeri in the 1926 World Series. The 4.75x5.5" clipping shows some staining and a two-inch tear at top, but these factors do not affect the 8/10 black fountain pen inscription, which reads "To Johnny, Grover C. Alexander." The piece is triple matted and framed in St. Louis Cardinals colors to final dimensions of 9.5x10.5". LOA from PSA/DNA.
