1920-S $10 AU55 PCGS. This issue is one of the five important rarities in the Indian eagle series, along with the two 1907 With Periods varieties, the 1930-S, and the 1933 issues. While there are other condition rarities, these five varieties are rare in all grades.
The mintage of this issue was 126,500 coins, seemingly large enough that examples should still be plentiful, except that this issue was not exported overseas like many others. Therefore, most or all of those struck were placed in circulation where survival was limited to the few pieces acquired by collectors during the 1920s. Any remaining coins were returned to the Treasury in 1933 and melted soon afterwards.
This example is a pleasing piece with nearly full luster and attractive orange-gold surfaces. Only a trace of highpoint wear is evident. The fields have a few faint hairlines that were most likely acquired during its brief stay in circulation. An attractive example, this piece should see considerable auction activity.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
