1920 5C MS67 PCGS. Since Lange (The Complete Guide to Buffalo Nickels, 2000) uses the term "sheer number of pieces," we find it difficult to label the average Mint State 1920 Nickel as "rare" in any sense of the word. Then again, the present example is anything but average. Pinpoint striking definition draws forth every design element in a way not often seen on a Buffalo Nickel from the 1920s. Then there's the luster. Both sides gleam with a hard, satiny sheen that is undisturbed by even a single mentionable blemish. The silver-gray surfaces are essentially untoned with some interesting clashmarks (as struck) in the obverse and reverse fields. While this coin should be of obvious importance to Registry Set collectors, it would also make a worthwhile addition to a Superb quality type set. Population: 4 in 67, none are finer at either major grading service (10/02).From The BTB Collection of Buffalo Nickels.
