1920-30's Sarouk Persian Rug - This is a hand knotted rug with 100% wool pile and is a genuine Persian Oriental Rug. Sarouk (also Saruk or Sarough) rugs are those woven in the village of Saruk and also the city of Arak, Iran and the surrounding countryside. Sarouk rugs have been produced for much of the last century. The early successes of the Sarouk rug are largely owed to the American market. From the 1910s to 1950s, the “American Sarouk” also known as the “Painted Sarouk” was produced. In the picture of the rug there is a black line which is a shadow from the building and is not a stain. This rug is Abrash as you can see in the top right corner. This is a true hand knotted rug and abrash is when the hand tribal weaver runs out of a certain dye and ten gets more. It shows more character in the Rug. This rug measures 10.3'x14.4' Inventory #4571
