1919 World Series Program
"WINNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS BY THE AUCTIONEER ONCE ALL BIDS HAVE BEEN PROCESSED TO DETERMINE THE WINNER FOR EACH LOT."
Scarce 1919 World Series program in which the Chicago White Sox threw the series to the Cincinnati Reds, which later became known as the notorious ''Black Sox'' scandal. Although most World Series have been of the best-of-seven format, the 1919 World Series was a best-of-nine series. Program is from Game 6, in which the White Sox defeated the Reds 5-4 in the 10th inning, leaving the series at Reds-4, White Sox-2. Program cover is printed in vibrant red with an illustration of Cincinnati Reds coach, Pat Moran. Cover is detached from the program and has wear, chips and tears to edges. Program, measuring 9'' x 12'' runs 48pp. with toning throughout interior pages. Neatly scored in pencil inside and scorecard page is loose. Overall in fair condition.
