1919-S 50C MS65 PCGS. CAC. While the 1919-D is certainly more famous for its condition rarity, the 1919-S half dollar is certainly an elusive issue in the Gem grades. This frosty Mint State coin has mostly brilliant silver surfaces with bold luster. Each side is visited by light gold and iridescent toning, especially near the borders. Although less than a full strike (and all 1919-S half dollars are the same in this regard), the example offered here has bold details in most areas, including traces of an outlined thumb at the central obverse.
The combination of a low-population rarity and a successful CAC quality review should heighten the overall demand for this specimen. Population: 38 in 65, 11 finer (1/08).

Coin Engraver: Adolph A.
