1919-S 50C MS65 PCGS. Ex: Pryor. Half Dollar production at the San Francisco Mint amounted to 1.5 million coins in 1919. While this is certainly a not overly generous total for the Walking Liberty series, it is the highest mintage of the three 1919-dated issues. As specialists know, however, the 1919-S is considerably more difficult to locate in Mint State than the 1919-P, even though the latter issue has a lower original mintage. This is a technically sound and aesthetically appealing Gem whose fully lustrous surfaces are overlaid in delicate golden iridescence. There are neither toning spots nor singularly bothersome abrasions on either side. Although not full, the strike is well above average for a Walking Liberty Half from the California branch mint, and especially for a 1919-S. Solidly graded at the MS65 level with eye appeal to spare. From the St. Louis Collection. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour.
