1919-S 50C MS64 PCGS. The 1919-S half dollar has the highest mintage (1,552,000 pieces) of the 1919 halves (962,000 pieces were coined in Philadelphia, and 1,165,000 at Denver), but exhibits the fewest Mint State pieces certified by PCGS and NGC (approximately 280 Mint State examples versus about 430 for the Philadelphia Mint and 300 or so for Denver).
Both sides of this near-Gem are fully brilliant and radiantly lustrous. The design elements are relatively well struck, with better-than-average definition visible in Liberty's left hand and adjacent branches. Most of the gown lines are well brought up. A few inoffensive obverse handling marks define the grade, but in general, the surfaces are quite well preserved for the grade. The mintmark is deformed to the point of being almost illegible, but this is a notable characteristic of this issue (Bruce Fox, 1993). Really a sharp piece for the grade designation. Population: 55 in 64, 48 finer (3/07).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
