While some collectors might pass this key-date piece by because it lacks the Full Head designation (even though Full Head pieces of this issue are quite elusive, on the order of a 1916 with Full Head), a more discerning group might notice that all but a couple of the shield rivets are sharp, the chain mail bodice is well detailed, and most of the vertical and horizontal shield lines are bold. They might further admire the brilliant, ice-white surfaces, bold luster, strong date and mintmark, and good delineation on Liberty's lower details, while noting a good strike on the reverse that shows a trace of typical softness in the center of the eagle's breast.
