1919-S<25C> MS66 Full Head PCGS. Ex: Chicagoland Collection. As a window into America's postwar state of mind, the 1919-S Standing Liberty Quarter has no equal. After all, a limited production of poorly produced Quarters from the San Francisco Mint seemed right at home in a year that witnessed Senators whose policies bucked that of their constituency. With a bold impression that would do justice to a 1930 representative, the present specimen is a pleasant departure from the typically encountered 1919-S Quarter. Liberty's head, the inner shield, gown lines, and breast feathers all display razor sharp delineation throughout. This premium Gem representative from the Chicagoland Collection is essentially brilliant with an intense satiny sheen that is accompanied by myriad Mint-caused striations on the reverse, an indication of an early striking. One or two of the rivets on the shield show a touch of weakness, but as a whole the strike remains sharp for a '19-S. As a future identifier, a vertical raised die line is seen on the eagle's left (facing) wing. Population: 3 in 66, 1 finer (3/05).
