1919-S 25C MS64 Full Head PCGS. The United States
1919-S<25C> MS64 Full Head PCGS. The United States' slackening postwar economy left the Mint with diminished requirements for circulating coinage. As a result, mintage figures for nearly every denomination dropped down to pre-1916 levels. Among the hardest hit denominations was the Standing Liberty Quarter, whose S-mint production this year barely topped 1.8 million pieces. In stark contrast to the majority of its extant brethren, this near-Gem survivor displays razor sharp definition on the obverse that leaves virtually no detail incomplete. UNITED STATES is weakly defined on the reverse. Pale overtones of silver-gray are noted overall, although the outward appearance of both sides is one of brilliance. Not even under magnification do the smooth surfaces reveal mentionable bagmarks and/or other disruptions--a fact that places this coin at the gateway to the Gem grade level. This is a truly beautiful coin in all regards whose aesthetic appeal adequately complements its numismatic rarity. Population: 12 in 64, 0 finer (3/05).
