Dimes 1919-d PCGS graded Mint State 65. Virtually full bands on this well struck, frosty and attractively toned Mercury Dime. Denver Mint specimens, along with their San Francisco-issued cousins are quite scarce in superlative condition. The vast majority were circulated, and only a handful of Gems survive. The present specimen is pleasing in every respect inasmuch as its toning ranges across the spectrum on a base of warm golden sunset color. When World War I -- "The War to End All Wars" and "The War to Make the World Safe for Democracy" -- drew to its conclusion November 11, 1918, a peace process was begun that was headquartered in Paris. The Treaty of Versailles, as it came to be known, drew high nabobs and dignitaries from the victorious states beginning in 1919, the year this Mercury Dime was struck. Our own President Woodrow Wilson attended the convocation, along with rulers from Britain, France, Italy, and lesser states.
Superior Galleries was founded in 1929 and has been a leader in
