1919-D 50C MS62 PCGS
1919-D 50C MS62 PCGS. In his The complete Guide to Walking Liberty Half Dollars, Bruce Fox writes that the 1919-D half dollar is: "A true condition rarity. Very rare in mint state as well as EF and AU. As with the 1919-P, the lower grade coins are becoming increasingly more difficult to find." Moreover, the issue is perennially weak, particularly in the areas of Liberty's head and left (right facing) hand.
On the MS62 coin in the present lot, Liberty's head is a little better defined than usually seen, and the facial features are quite strong. The hand area is weak, as is the eagle's left (right facing) leg. Most of the lines in the outer portions of the gown, on the other hand, are sharp. Pleasing luster emanates from both sides of the lightly toned surfaces. Delicate sky-blue and beige-orange patina rests on the obverse, and golden-tan color on the reverse. There are no mentionable contact marks.

Coin Engraver: Adolph A.
