1919 Cincinnati Reds Publications Lot of 4.
1919 Cincinnati Reds Publications Lot of 4. So much has been made of the "Eight Men Out" of the Chicago Black Sox that one can almost be forgiven for overlooking the tremendous talent of the team that served as the beneficiary of the World Series fix. Though this Fall Classic victory may not be the proudest for the fans of Cincinnati, it will always stand as the first, and the first is always the sweetest. Presented here is an intriguing assortment of publications issued during that season that almost tore our National Game apart. 1) 1919 World Series program, Cincinnati model. The cover suffers from previous mold damage which has caused a speckling effect, and a ballpoint doodle appears at lower right corner. Wear to the spine and some paper loss to rear cover. Center four-page spread is loose from staples, otherwise the program remains tightly bound. 2) Official Players Souvenir, The Reds of 1919. Small green booklet provides colorized images and biographies of all team members. Fine EX-MT+ condition. 3) Wells Theatre handbill for the Week of Sept. 29, 1919, announcing that it will be providing "World's Series Returns By Innings." Measures 3.5x5.5". EX. 4) Base Ball in Cincinnati, A History by Harry Ellard. Hardcover first edition, published 1907, Very scarce in first edition format.
