According the handwritten notation on an edge of the back, this was originally owned by a lady in Hannibal, Mo., who seems to have gotten it in May of 1920. The framed size is 1-1/4" long by 9-7/16" wide, the frame has lost some of its gilding--principally around the turned edges--but is very sturdy, with no cracks or chips. The "apograph" ("created by applying specially prepared colors, by hand, over rich brown Photo-gelatin prints"--the Campbell Art Company of Elizabeth, N.J. explains it all on the back for you) of eight dancing nymphs and five cheerful guys in a woodland clearing is in very good condition, even though my photo doesn't do it justice. Also on the back, along with the "apograph" explanation, is Corot's biography and a torn dust cover as shown.
