1919-21: Spanish Garate .455 revolver, used by Irish Volunteers during War of Independence

Scarce Spanish copy of the hinged-frame .44 Double Action Smith & Wesson revolver. Produced by Garate during the First World War to make up for a shortage of revolvers in the British Army. Maker's, registration and issuing marks pitted. A small number of these weapons would have found their way into the hands of combatants during the War of Independence.
