U.S.S. CROWNINSHIELD 1919-1949 Destroyer launched in 1919 used in Panam Canal Zone and Cuban waters placed in reserve in 1922. Recommissioned in 1930 took part in Fleet exercises on west coast, attended ceremonies opening San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge in November 1936, decommissioned in 1937. Transferred to United Kingdom September 1940 and became the HMS Chelsea, was assigned to the Sixth Escort Group for Atlantic duty where she fought submarine and air attacks on vital supply lines. In 1942 HMS Chelsea was lent to the Royal Canadian Navy til 1943, then transferred to Russia and renamed DERZKIY. Returned to United Kingdom for scrapping in 1949
