1919<10C> MS67 Full Bands PCGS. With a mintage of nearly 36 million pieces, this issue is common in grades up through MS64. The present brilliant example has satiny, lustrous surfaces that exhibit few mentionable marks. Examination with a loupe reveals only a couple of ticks on the lower fasces. Well struck, as is the rule for this issue, with faint weakness on the lower diagonal. Lange's Mercury dime book notes that several rotated die positions are known and that, curiously, the obverse die, rather than the reverse as typical, was used for the series in the "anvil" position, meaning that the obverse die would be the one that rotated: "rotated obverse" coins, in effect. An attractive example of unsurpassed quality. Population: 8 in 67, 0 finer (11/05).
From The Larry Shapiro #1 All-Time Finest Mercury Dimes Full Bands Basic PCGS Registry Set.
