1918-S Buffalo 5C NGC MS65
1918-S Buffalo Nickel. NGC graded MS-65. Nicely toned and well struck. One might almost mistake this for a 1938-dated Buffalo Nickel given the remarkable detail and accomplished luster. That is why we are thrilled to describe it as a gem of the finest order for those who enjoy seeing explosive cartwheel luster adorning the surface. Piercingly sharp for the '18-S date, easily finer in sharpness than many in supposedly higher numerical grade. There is one small mark in the hair a few millimeters above the braid. There is another on the lower hip of the bison. LIBERTY is complete and crisply defined, as is the date and all areas on the reverse. The toning blends nickel-gray radiance caused by the outward metal flow from the dies along with warm golden accents which it acquired in the passage of time since it was made. Some of the word PLURIBUS is visible intaglio at the Indian's chin due clashing of the dies.

Numismatists believe that most of the mintage of 4.8 million coins circulated and continued doing so for years and years. Further explaining this year's condition rarity is the laughable striking detail on many survivors. Some features, such as the first two digits in the date, are often very weakly defined. However, the opposite is true here, the coin shows outstanding detail. Pop 14; 1 finer in 66.
Estimated Value $14,000 - 15,000.
