1918-S 50C MS65 NGC. Bruce Fox, in The Complete Guide to Walking Liberty Half dollars, writes: "The 1918-S had the largest mintage (10,282,000 pieces) of the 1918 issues, but was not saved. This accounts for the somewhat low survivability of mint state specimens." MS65 and finer specimens are especially difficult to locate.
The Gem coin offered in this lot displays radiant luster, and whispers of rainbow-like patina that is somewhat more noticeable around the borders. The design elements are better struck than usual for the issue, that is typically weak. Liberty's thumb exhibits partial definition, as do the adjacent branches. Census: 34 in 65, 3 finer (11/06).

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
