1918-S 25C MS66 Full Head PCGS. The 1918-S Quarter has much in common with its Half Dollar counterpart. Both are surprisingly scarce in better Mint State grades despite eight figure mintages and are even greater strike rarities. The '18-S is one of the more inconsistently struck early Standing Liberty issues, which when combined with the issue's difficulty in high grades whittles down the number of Full Head Gems to a few dozen survivors. The peerless example offered here is blessed with remarkable sharpness and its satiny, well frosted surfaces display speckles of light golden-russet toning on the reverse. As a cataloger, it sometimes seems a little disingenuous use the term Condition Census in reference to a mass produced 20th century issue, but in this case the population data more than justifies the statement. Population: 2 in 66, 0 finer (10/02).
