1918 Illinois Centennial Commemorative Grades Gem Uncirculated ms65
We attempt to take as deatiled an Image as possible of both the Obverse and Reverse of all coins and currency, While we try and accurately grade each coin, as coin grading is subjective, we encourage you to asses the pictures yourself and make a grading judgement yourself. We always 100% guarantee authenticity, but we do not guarantee any specific grade, nor do we guarantee that NGC or PCGS or any other grading company will agree to grade the coin. We strive for your repeat business and do everything we can to accurately photograph and describe the coin/currency.
Bright White example with Great Eye appeal. Great Luster and Strike. It is interesting to note that the portrait of Lincoln on the Obverse shows him without a beard as he appeared when he was in Illinois. The Obverse was designed by George Morgan and the reverse one of John Sinniock's first designs. George Morgan was the Chief Engraver at the time of the US mint and Sinnock would be his successor, so two US Mint Directors designed this beautiful Commemorative. Points to check for wear include Lincoln’s cheekbone, jaw, eyebrow and the hair above his ear. On the reverse, examine the eagle’s breast feathers and the grass beneath its left claw. Coin World's Coin Values lists ms65 at $550 and The Wholesale Greysheet lists ms65 at $475
