1918-D 5C MS65 PCGS. The original mintage of 8.3 million pieces would not indicate that this is a rare coin, and indeed it is rather easy to locate in circulated grades. At the Gem level, however, it is definitely a rare item. Only 49 pieces have been so graded by PCGS with 18 finer (1/03). The primary deterrent in locating Gems seems to be softness of strike. This is a very strongly struck example that has bold definition on the Indian's hair as well as complete detailing on the bison. The satiny surfaces are covered with subtle iridescence on the obverse, while the reverse has a more monochromatic, even, golden-rose coloration. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. On occasion eBay live bid software cannot keep up with the pace of the auctions where 4-5 lots per minute can hammer down, so we recommend that you place a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
