1918-D<50C> MS64 PCGS. The 1918-D is a very challenging Walking Liberty Half to locate in grades above the MS63 level. We feel confident in laying most of the blame for this condition rarity at the doorstep of widespread circulation. In addition, inadequate striking will also cause difficulty for the collector who desires a high grade representative. It appears that the Denver Mint widened the spacing in order to extend die life. This shimmering, lustrous near-Gem displays a silver-gray sheen that is interrupted by a few swirls of deep gold and tan-brown color, especially on the reverse. The strike is not full (it rarely, if ever is on extant '18-D Halves), but one can appreciate emerging definition in the centers. There are no singularly distracting abrasions.
