1918-D 25C MS65 Full Head PCGS. The economic growth of the First World War resulted in considerable commercial demand for circulating coinage in the United States. It is little wonder, therefore, that the branch mint at Denver, Colorado was busy in 1918, churning out, among millions of coins of other denominations, 7.3 million Standing Liberty Quarters. This was not a well produced issue, and, while circulated coins are obtainable enough, fully struck Mint State coins are rare. J. H. Cline states that only 5% of the original mintage left the presses with Full Head definition. This is an exceptionally well produced coin for the date whose smooth, frosty surfaces easily qualify for Gem status. All three sprigs on Liberty's head are full, and the ear hole is readily evident under a loupe. Delicate golden-tan iridescence drifts over both sides of this important strike rarity.
