1918-D 10C MS66 Full Bands NGC.
1918-D 10C MS66 Full Bands NGC. Like its Philadelphia Mint counterpart, the 1918-D is often encountered with peripheral striking weakness. Very slight evidence of this is noted on this piece on several of the letter tops of STATES on the reverse. But that is a minor consideration when one considers the overall rarity of this issue in Gem grades and with full band definition. The 1918-D is arguably the rarest Denver Mint dime with full bands in the Mercury series with only a handful certified in lower grades. This remarkable Gem that shows complete separation of the center bands, is tied with one other at NGC and one at PCGS as the finest known (11/03). Both sides are covered with a light, even layer of golden-gray patina that only adds to the attractiveness and originality of this early Mercury rarity. For pedigree purposes, a couple of small milling marks are noted near the top of Liberty's cap. Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
