1918/7-S 25C VF30 ANACS. Assumedly produced late
1918/7-S<25C> VF30 ANACS. Assumedly produced late in the year 1917, when hubs for both 1917 and 1918 were in use. A working die received an initial impression from a 1917-dated hub, and its second impression from another hub dated 1918. Similar errors produced the 1918/7-D and 1943/2 Nickels and the 1942/1 and 1942/1-D Dimes, all of which like the 1918/7-S Quarter were wartime products. This piece is slate-gray in color with accents of apricot patina. The overdate detail is extremely sharp and visible, and most of the shield rivets are present. Smooth and evenly worn overall with no mentionable abrasions.
From The Empire State Collection.
