1918/7-S 25C MS61 NGC. The overdate Standing Liberty quarter was the result of a double hubbing accident when the die was made in Philadelphia. An old 1917 hub was used first, followed by a 1918 hub for the second impression. The result was a doubled die variety visible at the date, with both the 7 and 8 present. The mintmark was added later, and the die was ready for use at the San Francisco Mint.
A desirable Mint State example of this important overdate variety, with brilliant ivory luster and full mint frost beneath pale gray and champagne toning. A few darker spots on each side indicate a fully natural appearance. Although the head details are only partially visible, all other design aspects are boldly evident.

Coin Engraver: Hermon A.
