1918/7-S 25C AU55 NGC. FS-008.5. The 1918/7-S competes with the 1916 for key date status to the Standing Liberty quarter series, but the 1918/7-S is unquestionably more rare, particularly in Mint State. The downstroke of the underdigit 7 is obvious on this Choice AU example, and is separated from the lower loop of the 8, unlike lower graded pieces which show the 7 primarily as thickness to the loops of the 8. Considerable luster resides on surfaces visited by wisps of delicate olive-green, that is visible only under high magnification. A sharp strike prevails on most of the design elements, including Liberty's chain mail and the vertical stripes of the inner shield. Some faint, inoffensive circulation marks are noted on the reverse.

Coin Engraver: Hermon A.
