<B>1918/7-S<25C> AU55 NGC.</B></I> The premier 1916 and the third-year 1918/7-S quarters will remain forever linked as early keys to the series, like so many new issues where the early emissions are rare and coveted. But while the 1916s were saved--in small numbers--at the time of issue, this overdate issue was discovered, amazingly for such a bold overdate, 19 years after the pieces were produced. Accordingly, high grade pieces are considerably more elusive than their 1916 cousins. This example boasts splendid, lustrous silver-gold surfaces with the light wear expected. The many die clashes diagnostic of the issue are plain, including the E of the motto clashed against Liberty's left (facing) knee, and the eagle's wing clashed through the T in TRUST. Census: 20 in 55, 72 finer (9/06).
