1918/7-S<25C> AU53 Full Head PCGS. A very rare issue to earn the coveted "Full Head" designation as virtually the entire mintage shows softness on Liberty's leafy crown. The current PCGS Population report notes about five percent of those graded have the Full Head designation. Of course, most coins in lower grades show sufficient wear to make this a moot point, as the finer details on Liberty's head are also some of the first to show wear from circulation. For the Standing Liberty quarter enthusiast, obtaining coins with the Full Head designation is always the most desired outcome, and this is truly one of the key dates to the series in this regard. In fact, only the 1927-S Standing Liberty quarter nudges this overdate from the top spot as the rarest issue with the Full Head, with the 1927-S showing just 22 examples graded by PCGS while this overdate reports 24 pieces graded. We note delicate light gold toning over most of the coin with a touch of deeper purple and blue on the lower reverse rim. Ample luster in the fields to please the eye. Struck from clashed dies, with the usual backwards E near Liberty's knee, the eagle's wing outlined in the right obverse field and the minor die crack down the left side of the T in LIBERTY. A very rare coin indeed, and certain to please the discriminating numismatist.
