1918/7-D 5C Fine 15 PCGS. Almost 75 years after its discovery, the overdate remains scarce and very desirable as a variety of the Buffalo nickel. Nickels (and cents) were in short supply and were being produced at an unprecedented rate in 1917 and 1918, thus creating a high demand for working dies. A new die that had already been given an impression from a 1917 hub was annealed and given a second impression (either inadvertently or intentionally) from a 1918 hub, causing the overdate feature. This coin shows even wear with the usually expected handling marks from its years in circulation.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
