1918/7-D<5C> AU55 PCGS. Almost completely lustrous, with subtle golden accents and normal striking deficiency over the design elements. The underdigit is crystal clear, even to the unaided eye, and there are no distractions worthy of mention. Had this prized overdate been a little better struck, we could easily see it in a AU58 holder. This famous re-hubbed variety, now one of the classic 20th century nickel rarities, wasn't discovered until 1931, and by then the vast majority of 1918/7-D nickels had been in circulation for more than a decade. Consequently, AU and better examples are quite elusive, and only a few dozen Uncirculated pieces are believed to exist.
