1918 (10 October) RMS Leinster wartime photograph
monochrome photograph
41 by 50cm., 16 by 19.5in.

A mounted framed photograph of R.M.S. Leinster taken during the First World War, the ship painted in dazzle camouflage. Mount with contemporary inscription "R.M.S. Leinster torpedoed 10th October 1918". Over 500 lives – mostly Post Office workers who sorted the mails during the crossing between Kingstown (Dún Laoghaire) - were lost due to the sinking of the Leinster by UB-123, the greatest loss of life on the Irish Sea.
