This Series of 1918 $1 large-size Federal Reserve Bank Note, issued by the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, Massachusetts issued during the initial operational phase of the Federal Reserve System. Graded Choice Very Fine 35 by PMG. This note bears the portrait of George Washington on the obverse, framed by an elaborate border and inscribed with formal declarations of value and security and the Treasury seal appears at right in deep indigo, bearing the Latin motto "Thesaur. Amer. Septent. Sigil." The reverse displays a dynamic engraving of an eagle in flight, clutching arrows and rendered in dark green ink, symbolic of national strength and fiscal vigilance. Printed on the bottom, "THIS NOTE IS RECEIVABLE AT PAR IN ALL PARTS OF THE UNITED STATES IN PAYMENT OF ALL TAXES AND EXCISES AND ALL OTHER DUES TO THE UNITED STATES EXCEPT DUTIES AND IMPORTS AND ALSO FOR ALL SALARIES AND OTHER DEBTS AND DEMANDS OWING BY THE UNITED STATES TO INDIVIDUALS CORPORATIONS AND ASSOCIATIONS WITHIN THE UNITED STATES EXCEPT INTEREST ON PUBLIC DEBT".
