“Woodrow Wilson” as President “It is with deepest and most genuine regret that I accept your resignation from the Federal Trade Commission...”
WOODROW WILSON, (1856-1924). 28th President of the United States (1913-1921).
January 10, 1917-Dated, Typed Letter in blue type, Signed, “Woodrow Wilson” as President, 7” x 8.5”, 1 page, Washington, Coice Crisp Very Fine. Trivail light spot between the third and fourth lines. Written on White House Letterhead stationery. Addressed to: “Hon. Edward N. Hurley, Chairman, Federal Trade Commission”. This Letter reads, in part: “It is with deepest and most genuine regret that I accept your resignation from the Federal Trade Commission... I accept it only because I am convinced from what you tell me that you could not consistently with interests for which you much care continue the work you have been so admirably preforming. I wish with all my heart that it might have been possible for you to stay, and I want you to know in what high esteem you have been held here by everyone who has had dealings with you and what a very high value I, in common with the public, have placed upon your work with the Commission.”
