1917-S 5C MS65 PCGS. There is little to no evidence of die erosion on either side of this originally preserved Gem, but the dies appear to have been spaced a bit too far apart with the result that the central highpoints are softly detailed. Still, the overall striking definition is uncommonly bold for this often carelessly produced issue. The otherwise medium gray surfaces reveal some champagne tinged highlights at direct angles. The luster is full, and flyspecks are few, far between, and not singularly distracting. A solidly graded Gem that is sure to elicit strong bids from the numerous Buffalo Nickel specialists in today's hobby. From The BTB Collection of Buffalo Nickels.
