1917 G$1 McKinley MS67 PCGS. Despite disappointing sales for the 1916 McKinley dollars, the beneficiaries of the commemorative issue ordered further examples dated 1917. Afterward, neither date sold well, and only a bulk purchase of both dates by B. Max Mehl kept the two issues from being more elusive than they are. While scholars disagree on the eventual net mintage for the 1917 McKinley half, most believe that the issue has fewer extant pieces than its earlier 1916 counterpart.
The apricot-gold and wheat surfaces of this shining Superb Gem exhibit delightful luster, and the devices offer surprisingly strong detail. Even under magnification, one has difficulty finding even trivial flaws on this exquisitely preserved coin. A wonderful representative in the best condition attainable; neither NGC nor PCGS has certified a numerically finer representative (9/07).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
