1917 G$1 McKinley MS67 PCGS. This is one of the most appealing McKinley Gold Dollars of either date that we have handled in recent memory. Both sides exhibit a modest semi-prooflike finish with hints of brightness in the fields. The latter feature is only readily evident at direct angles, but original reddish-gold color is appreciable with even the most casual glance. A fully struck Superb Gem with virtually pristine features. The McKinley Gold Dollars were authorized by an act of Congress dated February 23, 1916. The second-year 1917 has a net mintage of 10,000 pieces. It is not uncommon to find survivors in today's market that have been mishandled by collectors, but it is definitely a rare occasion when we can offer a Superb Gem in one of our Signature Sales.
