<B>1917 G$1 McKinley MS67 NGC.</B></I> Ex: Prinzi Collection. The mintage of the 1917 final-year McKinley gold dollar was half that of the 1916 issue, and sales were sluggish, even though proceeds of the issue were earmarked for a memorial to the assassinated president. Eventually Fort Worth, Texas, dealer B. Max Mehl obtained 10,000 examples of the 1916 and 1917 issues for sale, offering them at $2.50 each. Orange-gold centers meld into green-gold near the peripheral lettering. Both sides are essentially pristine, pleasing, and attractive.
