1917-D 50C Reverse MS64 PCGS
1917-D 50C Reverse MS64 PCGS. On February 14, 1917, a policy change by Mint Director F.J.H. von Engelken caused the mintmark to be moved from its conspicuous obverse placement to a more obscure reverse location, where it remained for Denver and San Francisco issues until the end of the design. The 1917-D Reverse is a strike rarity among early Walkers, but this shimmering coin is well-defined on the obverse and shows pleasing detail on the eagle on the reverse. Moderately toned overall with brick-red and tan patina in the protected fields that stand out from the dominant steel-gray color of the devices.

Coin Engraver: Adolph A.
