1917-D 50C Reverse MS64 PCGS. On February 14, 1917, a policy change by Mint Director F.J.H. von Engelken caused the mintmark to be moved from its conspicuous obverse prominence to a more obscure reverse location where it remained for Denver and San Francisco issues until 1947, the final year for the Walking Liberty half dollar. Although more were minted in 1917 with the mintmark on the reverse, very few were saved from circulation, hence, the conditional rarity of this piece. The '17-D Reverse is also a strike rarity among early Walkers, but this coin is well defined on the obverse and shows good definition on the eagle on the reverse. Moderately toned overall, the slightly muted steel-gray surfaces are enhanced with mottled brick-red shadings in the protected areas.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
