1916-S 10C MS67 Full Bands PCGS.
1916-S 10C MS67 Full Bands PCGS. The spectacular colors displayed by this originally toned Superb Gem include apricot, crimson, sea-green, and charcoal-russet, on the obverse, and speckled purple patina, on the reverse. It is boldly struck throughout, with the all-important Full Bands definition readily evident. While common in circulated and lower Mint State grades, the 1916-S is rare at the present level of preservation. The San Francisco Mint cranked out nearly six million pieces of the final-year Barber dime issue, and proceeded to strike more than 10 million examples of the new Mercury design. Their high level of productivity resulted in only average sharpness on many Mint State survivors, making this coin a rare exception to the rule. Only seven pieces have been graded at MS67, with Full Bands, by both of the major services combined, and none have been certified any finer (11/03). Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
